Synopsis:
Improvisations on topics: the meaning of interpersonal relationships; man face to nature; experiences that we are not able to control; falling in love; the question of freedom, drive, its cause effect; suffering; the rite of passage; entering Dante's "forest where darkness resides" and in which the era of conquering one’s inner self and others begins. As a result of all this, a poetic performance was born, which aims to pour over the on lookers some moonlight, humidity, intoxicating scents, to kindle the fire of love, awakening sincere and gentle feelings that today's man has completely deprived himself of.

Abstract:
 “These are five operas for children. Treated as a joke. One could hardly call them operas in  earnest. This is musical theatre for children. Literally, the target age is 6+. Psychological or therapeutic fairy-tales for family viewing. Each opera is no longer than ten minutes. All the music and all the texts were composed by students themselves. We did not use one single live instrument. Just like a garage band we mixed it in a makeshift studio. On the stage there are benches and a huge wardrobe from whence all the frighteners appear that children adore.  All fairy-tales have a happy ending, they are therapeutic after all. All the stories feature a common narrator. He is a psychologist in need of psychological assistance.” – Tatiana Burel.

There are 9 women and one man on the stage. In this inversion of Gogol’s play it’s all the other way round, several brides chase one bridegroom. But how can one make a choice when each of them is “a woman of virtue”? In this new interpretation the mother Kochkaryova is bending over backwards for her daughter Katyusha Podkolyosina. But is it possible to make someone happy against their will?

Synopsis
At the end of the 19th century in Russia, the KARAMAZOV family is torn apart when the OLD KARAMAZOV, a greedy and lustful man, competes with his eldest son, DIMITRI, for the same woman, GRUSHENKA. The eldest son's fiancée, KATERINA, is unwilling to break off the engagement in order to take revenge on him, which torments the second son, IVAN, who loves her deeply. The third son, ALEXEI，a devout and good one, tries to save everyone, but at the same time the illegitimate son, SMERDYAKOV, is stirring in the darkness. The case of patricide changes the fate of all of them, and each of the four sons embarks on a journey of self-redemption.

The Brothers Karamazov is the final masterpiece of Fyodor Dostoevsky (1821-1881), a world-renowned Russian novelist of the 19th century in literary world. By delicately describing the shameless and despicable collapse of the Karamazov family, the novel reflects the author's complex inner contradictions and profound philosophical thinking. The 12 books of the writings contain million words nearly. How can we discover the essence of the work from the perspective of the theatre? How to give a strong audio-visual expression in the limited time and space environment of the stage? How to convey the unique life cognition of young generation from the perspective of modern people and present Chinese characteristics? These are all topics that are in front of MFA graduate students in Directing, Class 2022.

Challenges are formidable, admittedly, and uncertainty areeverywhere. Overthrowing and reconstruction time and time again are the cornerstones of growth. The truly brilliant creation shone during the practical investigation in rehearsal process of the Peking Opera Enter the Forbidden City by Nanjing Performing Arts Group, using the rehearsal room of the Peking Opera Troupe of Nanjing. When Russian TheBrothers Karamazov encountered resounding gongs and drums of Chinese Xiqu, these energetic students acted heartily and explored freely......

Over the past 60 years since the founding of the Directing Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy, it has been adhering to the educational idea of "rooted in native, open to the world, integrating East and West, and bold to innovation". The creation of this play is another concrete embodiment for the "creative integration of internationalization and tradition" of the Directing Department, STA. Synopsis
Everyone wants to live a wealthy and luxurious life, but to attain that sometimes means to  sacrifice one’s convictions. What is there to be done for a young man of high morals who is misunderstood and mocked at by others and even his family turn away from him? What is more important: principles or love? Is there any difference between a firm outlook and common egotism? These eternal questions are raised in “A Few Days from Zhadov’s Life”, a stage production based on “A Profitable Position”, a play by Alexander Ostrovsky.
